A goodwill gesture from Spain:

Madrid lifts restriction on Algeria’s natural gas

El Khabar, 9 october 2007

Spain's Official Journal published yesterday the Spanish Industry, Tourism and Commerce Ministry decision to allow oil and gas state-owned company Sonatrach to increase the volume of its natural gas liquids marketed in the Spanish market up to 3b cubic meters, favouring thus the Algerian party demand in the frame of Medgaz pipeline project.
This Spanish decision is considered as a goodwill gesture to ease the bilateral relations which witnessed a deep gas-crisis while Algeria considered the Spanish restrictive decision on its gas exports to Spain as a political not a commercial decision.

The abovementioned recommendation, of which El Khabar got a copy, was published in Spain’s Official Journal under the code number of 17626. It mentioned that Spain's National Energy Commission has amended the recommendation of February 28 2007 which allowed Sonatrach to market its natural gas in Spain.
